Her bold hidden-prism technique delivers a color boost. "This peek-a-boo placement of vivid color means less maintenance for your client and less work for you as a stylist," says Eyre. This color is ideal for anyone who wants to dip their toe into vivid colors without going all out from roots to end. The hidden-prism method also has limitless options. You can use any combination of colors. Go as soft or as bold as your guest wants. Or customize a weft of extensions for low-maintenance options. Create the Look Start by sectioning where you want to see the prism. "For this model, I went as high as the parietal ridge and as low as the occipital, leaving the rest of the hair blonde," says Eyre. • Take 1 ∕ 8 -inch vertical subsections, overdirecting the hair forward. • Apply a personalized multicolor pattern of bold colors in 1-inch swatches, repeating the pattern down the full length of the strand. • Repeat with the next 1 ∕ 8 -inch vertical subsection, following the same color pattern. • Adjust application of colors to keep the pattern aligned. Separate with foils. • Process the color according to manufacturer directions. • Rinse with cold water to prevent colors from bleeding together. The hidden prism is a fun technique playing with overdirection and illusion. "Once the hair lays back down to a natural fall after processing and washing, you get a unique effect. I can't wait to see more bold colors poolside this summer," says Eyre.
