Explore your benefits at ahphair.com 59 At Pall Mall Barbers in London and New York, we've seen firsthand how these services transform the client relationship. e haircut gets them through the door, but the add-ons keep them loyal. THE PALL MALL BARBERS APPROACH So, what does this look like in practice? At our shops, we treat add-ons not as "extras" but as part of the experience. A hot towel shave isn't just about removing stubble—it's a ritual: the steam, the pre-shave oils, the precision of the razor, and the soothing towel aerward. It's relaxation and crasmanship combined. Our scalp treatments take something as simple as a head massage and elevate it into a rejuvenating service. We exfoliate, cleanse, and condition the scalp while giving the client that spa- like moment they never knew they needed. We also offer facials designed specifically for men, branded as a "skin refresh" so it feels less intimidating. Add in beard design, gray blending, and discreet grooming (eyebrows, ears, nose), and suddenly a barbershop visit becomes a complete transformation. ese services are framed not as indulgences but as essentials. And when clients try them, they come back. THE PSYCHOLOGY OF ADD-ONS Here's the secret: Many barbering clients don't book treatments in advance. ey won't plan for a facial or a scalp mask. But when you offer it to them in the chair, in the trusted hands of their barber, the barriers disappear. It's not about "selling." It's about advising. Instead of asking, "Do you want a scalp treatment today?" I'll say, "Your scalp looks a little dry. We have a 10-minute revitalizing treatment that will sort that out for you. Want me to add it in?" at shi in language makes all the difference. You're not upselling; you're personalizing. You're solving a problem the client didn't even know they had. And once they see the result, they'll book it again. THE BUSINESS CASE From a business perspective, add-ons are transformative. Let's look at a simple example: • Standard haircut: $55 • Scalp treatment: $15 • Beard trim: $25 Suddenly, that $55 ticket is $95. Multiply that across a week, a month, a year, and the impact on your business revenue is staggering. But it's not just about money. Add-ons increase loyalty. Your client can get a haircut anywhere, but if they know your shop gives them the sharpest beard lineup, a relaxing hot towel ritual, and subtle gray blending, they're not going anywhere else.
