Everyone Needs
a Business Plan
Business plans aren't only needed at the
start of your career. There are different
scenarios when a business plan (or business
plan update) is needed:
• A new graduate working for themselves
• An employee leaving their current position
so they can open their own business
• A person pivoting to a different type
of business
• A business owner or student obtaining
a loan
• A business owner wanting to:
- Hire employees
- Purchase new equipment
- Invest in training
- Expand their service menu
- Change locations
- Open additional locations
- Sell retail
In all these scenarios, you will want to see
both the short-term and long-term financial
impacts. It's always a good idea to write out
a business plan of 3–5 years since many
investments aren't profitable right away.
Writing or updating your business plan will
help you plan all the steps needed to make
your goals a reality.
