Why do you love what you do? I love making people feel good. What's better than being part of someone's special moments and making them feel like a goddess! Everyone is beautiful in their own special way, and I love bringing that to life for my clients. Where do you find inspiration? What's fun about makeup is I find inspiration everywhere. Sure, there's TV and movies, where new looks might come across the screen, but there is nature too. A beautiful sunset that you want to create on someone's eye, or the red rose you see that you want to put on a lip. My biggest inspiration is my clients. Each is so unique, I try to take their style and infuse it with my own. There's nothing more inspiring then helping someone be their kind of beautiful. What kind of self-care do you do to avoid burnout? This past weekend, I had five weddings and did makeup for a gala. To avoid burnout when I'm really busy, I try to connect with nature or give myself a day to do absolutely nothing except watch Netflix while snuggling my pup. Also, nothing beats a nice bath with Epsom salts after a busy day! What advice would you give to newly licensed cosmetologists? Just go for it! Chase that dream! There are so many different avenues to express ourselves in our industry. Try everything, and when you find your passion, just dive in headfirst. Why do you like being an AHP member? What's better than something that gives me peace of mind knowing I'm covered and insured for my clients and myself? Plus, the magazine and webinars— I love learning. I want to be up on the latest techniques and trends. @jenniferbosslady, @jenniferbossbridal facebook.com/jenniferbossmakeup jenniferboss.com Why should other cosmetologists join AHP? In our industry, you should never stop learning. From the webinars and podcasts to all the great career tools like calculators and marketing resources, AHP membership has some amazing benefits. Which AHP benefit do you use the most? The webinars. I'm obsessed with being the best I can be in the industry, so I use these tools to help me continue to learn. How else do you use your skills/license? Outside of working, I use my makeup skills volunteering for a breast cancer nonprofit, Runway for Recovery, that honors survivors and helps fund families who have lost their main caretaker from breast cancer. I've done everything from working their fashion show fundraiser where we do their hair and makeup to teaching makeup lessons, such as one for a young girl who lost her mother to breast cancer. I also have done makeup for Make-A-Wish Foundation. Jennifer Boss Jennifer Boss Beauty
