54 indie stylist Volume 2 Issue 3 Heath Cordas Services District Leader @HeathCordas Ulta love: I love Ulta because they are inclusive and welcoming to everyone. Through the pandemic, Ulta really showed us how much they cared for their team by doing everything they could to make sure we were all OK. I was brought to Ulta through recruiting and was amazed how much money you can make with the tools they provide. My leadership invested so much in me to bring me to a higher level. Area of focus: I love doing hair, but I also love being a Services District Leader. Impacting people's lives, showing them how to make money, and building a guest base has been so rewarding. Advice for new professionals: Work for Ulta! Less is more. Really make sure you are invested in business acumen and a salon that continually elevates your career. advertisement ca r e e r s Meghan Holland Services District Educator @meghanholland_hairedu Inspiration: Seeing other stylists take risks, set high goals for themselves, and build successful businesses from the ground up. I love to see other people live their dreams! Ulta love: I love Ulta because they offer so much more to their stylists than other typical salons, such as continuing education, great commission, amazing benefits, the list goes on! I also love that I get to educate stylists and help them grow. Advice for new professionals: Do your research when choosing your first salon; don't settle because they seem trendy. Identify what's important to you in your career, and ask a lot of questions. Shop around for a salon that is going to take care of you throughout your career. There's nothing worse than spending a year or two building a clientele at a salon to find out that you are not happy and need to start looking for another salon—or worse, you quit the industry altogether!
