76 AHP Indie Stylist Volume 6 Issue 1 Magnetic nails are created using a specialized gel polish infused with ultra- fine metallic particles. When exposed to a magnet, these particles shift and concentrate in specific areas. e beauty of this trend lies in its versatility— depending on the lighting and angle, the design constantly transforms. For maximum impact, magnetic gels with a sheer base work best when applied over a darker color, enhancing contrast and depth. Some brands, like those from Kokoist and GellyFit, take this effect further by featuring two distinct colors—one in the base and another in the magnetized portion—resulting in dramatic, color-shifting designs. Get the Look To achieve this mesmerizing effect, follow these steps: 1. Apply magnetic gel one nail at a time. If using a sheer-based magnetic gel, apply and cure a base color first to enhance contrast. 2. Before curing, use a magnet to manipulate the metallic particles. Hold the magnet close to the nail without touching it. 3. Play with different effects: For a side- pulled effect, place the magnet along one side of the nail to draw the pigment in that direction. For a centered effect, move the magnet toward the free edge, then around all edges to push the pigment toward the middle. 4. Repeat the process until the desired effect is achieved. 5. Flash-cure immediately after magnetizing each nail to lock the design in place and prevent the particles from shifting when working on the next nail. 2. ISOLATED CHROME: THE NEXT EVOLUTION OF CHROME From the moment chrome hit the nail scene, it cemented itself as a top trend. While clients adore its reflective finish, the nail community remains divided. Just when it seemed chrome couldn't get any trendier, a new variation has taken over—isolated chrome. Christi VAnZandt
