66 AHP Indie Stylist Volume 6 Issue 1 CRAFTING Beautiful Beginnings Get started with your bridal hairstyling career by Caidy Brasure Breaking into the bridal hair industry could connect you to lifelong clients and position you as an expert in your niche. All it takes is focus, marketing, and a skill set of bridal hair trends. B eing a bridal hairstylist is one of the most fulfilling careers in the beauty industry, offering the opportunity to help brides look and feel their best on one of the most important days of their lives. Whether you're crafting modern updos, glamorous waves, romantic curls, or boho- inspired styles with braids and floral accents, bridal hairstyling provides endless creative possibilities. ese styles can be uniquely tailored to reflect the bride's personal vision, resulting in a truly unforgettable experience. As an award-winning hairstylist and industry educator, specializing in styling and updos was always part of my vision. Bridal hairstyling was the perfect fit, combining my passion for creative styling with the flexibility of weekend weddings, while continuing to offer other services during the week. Over the years, I've had the privilege of styling wedding hair across the US and internationally. I've also worked at prestigious events such as New York Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, and the Miss Michigan USA Pageant. However, when I first entered cosmetology school 16 years ago, I noticed a significant gap in updo education—a gap that persists today. Realizing the need, I not only chose to serve the bridal community, but I also became an industry educator. Today, I travel the globe offering updo education to both cosmetology students and licensed professionals. So, how does one break into the bridal industry? How do you advertise, gain recognition, and secure bookings locally—even for destination weddings? Let's take a look. >>
