THE IMPACT OF PERIMENOPAUSE ON HAIR Perimenopause—the lesser discussed yet substantial stage—usually starts anywhere between the late 30s to somewhere in the 50s, bringing a hormonal roller coaster with it. As estrogen and progesterone fall, rise, and then nosedive, androgens like testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can start to take center stage.
