The first fashion show I attended was
something akin to a Cinderella moment. Of
course, instead of a pumpkin-shaped carriage,
my entrance involved a press pass. And I left
with both my shoes. Still, there was something
so magical about the event. Everywhere I turned,
there were cool people in even cooler clothes.
e music blared, the lights strobed, and the
models slithered down the runway in over-the-
top outfits and hair twice the size of their heads.
I fell in love with my prince that night: fashion.
It fi ts that we needed to eventually have an
issue of AHP Indie Stylist dedicated to the glitz
and glamour of the hair industry. Your everyday
encounters are likely not as infused with avant-
garde hair as editorial photo shoots and fashion
shows, but that doesn't mean you can't always
embrace the artistic side of your career.
In these pages, we invite you to reignite your
creativity. Start by learning how to work with
clients to make their high-fashion requests
attainable (page 48), then check out an insider's
guide to planning and executing your own photo
shoot (page 58). e fashion doesn't stop there:
Learn about this year's top trends for bridal hair
(page 66) and nails (page 74). As always, get
inspired by the best of the best with our Artist
Collective on page 84.
Your inner artist is dying to come out—
and you don't need a fairy godmother to
magically transform your business with style
and panache. You can do that all by yourself.
