62 indie stylist Volume 3 Issue 2 advertisement Sarah Dahl Director, Services Education What is your team responsible for at Ulta Beauty? All things education. This includes a field team of more than 100 regional and district educators that lead over 5,000 in-person classes for Ulta Beauty stylists annually and an education development team that builds hair, skin, and makeup curriculum, as well as salon leadership training, business acumen, and finance. How has Ulta Beauty's Ulta Academy education evolved this year? This year, we layered on four full-day, hands-on, in-person texture classes that cover a variety of topics including texture management, coloring, haircutting, braiding and wigs, and texture sets. We also launched hand-tied extension training. Since our launch of Ulta Academy Education over four years ago, our stylists are always paid to attend training. What opportunities await stylists at Ulta Beauty? The Salon at Ulta Beauty is a destination for all stylists, whether you're starting out in the industry or you're a seasoned vet. Whether you are looking to grow a six-figure business behind the chair, grow into a full-time educator, or transition into salon or retail management roles, the possibilities are beautiful! We also have our NAHA-winning Design Team. What is your biggest advice for stylists looking to grow their careers? Continue to seek education. This industry is constantly evolving, and it's critical to evolve with it. Find a salon that values education and can provide you with regular education that is both foundational and trend driving. Additionally, ensure you have support when applying those principles to your business and growing your income. Samantha Manuzak Manager of Salon Training and Hair What is your role? My role is all about helping service professionals be successful in the salon. From creating onboarding that sets you up for success from day one to inspiring seasoned professionals in Ulta Academy and open classes, we've got everyone covered. We collaborate with our Ulta Beauty Pro Team and amazing brand partners, and we solicit feedback to make sure we are putting out the most cutting-edge content to inspire professionals. I spend my days deciding the best way to share information with fellow professionals and elevate the guest experience. What made you join the Ulta Beauty team? This will be my 15th year at Ulta Beauty! I started as a seasonal retail associate while I was getting my instructor's license. I was thrilled when I learned how flexible the salon scheduling is. It allowed me to move into the salon and work behind the chair while still being in school full time. I took advantage of the amazing salon career opportunities by not only building a great business behind the chair, but also by becoming an educator and member of the Ulta Beauty Design Team. This led me to the corporate office, where I've now held multiple roles in education development. Why should a stylist consider Ulta Beauty? Ulta Beauty offers support while allowing you to be the best version of yourself. You have: • Dedicated support leaders who help with your day-to-day goals, scheduling, and supplies • Skill and technical support from a services district educator • Paid education for skill mastery and growth • Industry-best multi- brand backbar • 401k and health benefits to support your future • The ability to focus on your creativity • The opportunity to advance your career in other areas of the industry MEET THE TEAM
