40 indie stylist Volume 3 Issue 1 P "Prior to barbering, I worked many different unfulfilling jobs. I worked in banking after college, moved on to sales, then got my hands dirty in flooring. One day, after a massive layoff of 20 workers, I literally had no idea what I was going to do. I went to get a haircut from my barber, and he suggested barber school. When I started barber school, I immediately fell in love with cutting hair. All I knew was I wanted to be the best I could be." Thus began the winning essay of our 2022 AHP Barber of the Year, David Peters. Known as "Pittsburgh Dave"—"because I live and breathe Pittsburgh sports"—Peters quickly became part of the city's sports world by becoming the barber for some of Pittsburgh's most famous athletes. Peters is charming, humble, driven, and unafraid to make a name for himself in the evolving world of barbering. AHP congratulates our Barber of the Year and thanks all who submitted their essays for this award.
