110 indie stylist Volume 3 Issue 1 redux - redux by Jalia Pettis In this collection, I wanted to create a vintage look on each of the models. Each year we look to specific beauty trends, while most are a repeat of a previous look from an earlier period. I think it is important as beauty professionals to understand how to create looks based on certain decades—not only as a way to keep our skills sharp, but also if you have a desire to work within editorial or film/TV. I had an assistant on set who was able to pick which era each model was aligned with before I could even explain it, which made me happy because it meant it was obvious without being overly done. I used a variety of products on each model, as their skin tone and hair texture/density were vastly different. A few of those include Hot Tools Pro, CHI, Sigma Beauty, Karen Murrell, and Embryolisse.
