LIVED-IN WAVES
by Justin Toves-Vincilione
GET THE LOOK
This look was created to
showcase a play on textures
and colors. Using clip-in hair
extensions at multiple different
lengths, I created a seamless
blend and a naturally long-
layered look.
I also chose a color that didn't
match Clo's hair color perfectly.
My color choice added a warm
pop, and the diagonal placement
allowed the colors to blend
effortlessly. I made sure I had
plenty of hair extensions available
because, when it comes to hair
extensions, more is more!
For styling prep, I used products
sourced from Ulta Beauty. I
prepped Clo's hair with Wella EIMI
Thermal Image Heat Protection
Spray, which provides heat
protection, hold, and shine, and
holds up through blow drying and
thermal styling.
Next, I partnered L'anza Keratin
Healing Oil Lustrous Finishing
Spray with my heat protection
spray to make sure my iron
work was flawless. I like to spray
evenly on each section and brush
through before I use any type of
hot tool.
To create these lived-in,
S-shaped waves, I used my T3
Lucea ID 1'' Smart Flat Iron with
Touch Interface at the proper heat
setting for color-treated, medium-
density hair. My technique is
a freehand sculpting method
where I begin at the root and
rock my iron back and forth as I
move down the section. To create
a cleaner, more uniform finish,
always direct the ends of the hair
under.
To finish, I used Kenra
Professional Platinum Glass Spray
6 to tame any flyaways, and IGK
Beach Club Volume Texture Spray
to boost volume and texture.
