Becoming The Wax Chick Almost 20 years ago, I left my high paying high-tech job in the Silicon Valley to pursue my passion as a makeup artist. Little did I know that would lead me to become The Wax Chick. At the suggestion of my cousin (a sought-after Hollywood makeup artist), I enrolled in beauty school to get my esthetics license. She said that's what a lot of makeup artists did so they would always be able to fi nd work. Less than a year later, I had my license and a new direction. Makeup was still in the picture, but waxing had become a huge part of my path. In school I was the fearless one when it came to waxing. I waxed "customers" when no one else wanted to, even when I had no idea what I was doing (which was most of the time). I convinced our instructor to allow me to hold a class on bikini waxing. By that I mean a very modest bikini wax. She agreed and even volunteered to be the model. I had no idea where all of this would lead me. Prior to being licensed, I had been recruited to work at one of the top European days spas in the area and had the great fortune of being trained in many services—one in particular that would change my trajectory forever. My instructor was lead esthetician "Francois." She had been trained in France, and she had trained beauty professionals all around the world. She introduced me to Brazilian waxing. I had no idea how important this fi rst job and introduction would be or what it would come to mean. I was just happy for the opportunity and curious to learn more. The more I learned, the more I realized there were others like me, who were hungry for this information. Brazilians were just becoming mainstream and everyone wanted to offer them, but none of us were trained in school on how to do them, and it was nearly impossible to fi nd the advanced education we needed. In 2005, I took the leap and began offering advanced waxing education in Brazilians and brows for licensed professionals. My passion has always been to empower other professionals to make the money they deserve and gain the confi dence, knowledge, and skill to do so. As scary as it may seem, Brazilian and brow waxing is a skill that anyone can learn with a little time and patience. If you are thinking about waxing but lack the skill and confi dence you need, know that there is help and that YOU CAN WAX. I would be honored to help you fi nd your inner waxing god or goddess. I invite you to visit my website and see if we are a fi t. As I always say, "If you wax it, they will book."
