44 indie stylist Volume 1 Issue 2 a radiant manicure and a clear nail coating. Nails are then enhanced with strategically placed bits of color. From a reverse French to random geometric shapes, just enough color is added for interest. RAGING RAINBOWS No one has to accept the standard one- to two-color polish job or spend time staring at the polish wall to select one perfect color. Instead, let your clients unleash their color expression. It's easy and fun to offer many different colors on each hand—or even each nail. Layer colors over top, side by side, or even do some multi-colored artwork. SHIMMER SURGE Every few years, the transition from cream to shimmer resurfaces, and shimmer is surging. With the launch of its limited-edition Hidden Prism collection, the always-on-trend OPI created a a kaleidoscope of glimmer and highly refl ective colors, which co-founder Suzi Weiss-Fischmann describes as a modern evolution of the classic primary rainbow. The 12 shades offer "unique iridescent glitters, and shimmer pigments add depth and dimension to a kaleidoscope of color," she says. "Hero shades, [such as] 'She's a Prismaniac' and 'Rainbows in Your Fuchsia,' offer a fresh take on the season's quintessential hot pink." MOOD ENHANCER Maybe it's because Pantone's color of the year for 2020 is Classic Blue, or because there is a deep desire for mood elevation, but blue, green, and yellow are being requested and worn by consumers from coast to coast. "Take a quick scroll through Instagram," says Holly Schippers, "and you will see that no matter the length or shape someone prefers to wear, the consistent theme is bold color. Some boast art while others are solid—all of them popping off the page, inspiring wild days of freedom." FRENCH-ING Sophisticated action-seekers are turning to more colorful and creative forms of the classic French manicure. Bright or nearly neon tips, color that wraps up the Rainbow French tip by Elaine Khong
