this difficult time. In line with this thought, I launched the Business of One website and campaign. The objective of Business of One is to gain government support for business loans and programs for solo entrepreneurs in the fields of beauty, health, and wellness. Along with providing education and seeking governmental support, I wanted to do something that would directly support the lifestyle professionals' businesses financially and professionally. One of my solutions was a $250,000 giveaway of color kits from my COLOURS by Gina line. Unlike many lines of color that require 300-plus tubes, my line has 60 tubes, which makes the line very affordable, easy to store, and easy to use. It is a beautiful pallet. Plus, I realized the line could be a game changer for a lot of stylists who will be on a tight budget in the coming months as they recover financially. I also decided to offer my business app, Gina's Platform, for free. This represented instant savings (and an annual savings of $500) for many who were paying for a management app through other providers. I also allocated a portion of my staff in assisting lifestyle professionals with onboarding and training. Even with these many efforts, I am cognizant that this is not an easy time for those in the industry. My international artistic team director, John Aultman, is an 18-year veteran stylist who operates his business in our Colorado Springs, Colorado, location, and he also understands the struggle. In 2007, when the last recession took place, he suffered personally and professionally. He is keenly aware that a situation like this can be career-ending for a young stylist without the right support. For Aultman, being the lead instructor of my team has allowed him to assist young stylists and encourage them to keep their heads up. Aultman has an extraordinarily strong following and typically books clients three appointments out. He keeps in close contact with client wellness checks, and he is working through rescheduling his client book. Nonetheless, Aultman realizes his business is about to experience changes. He is well aware that older clients may cancel due to the uncertainties related to COVID-19, and scheduled appointments will be shorter due to the new cleaning requirements. TAKING CARE Author Gina Rivera is finding ways to support her Phenix Salon Suites team during the pandemic.
